Man kind has always tried to push the envelope on each new technology to push man forward. However unlike the Darwinism affect in other careers and parts of our lives when it comes to technology we always try to help or get others to be at the same level. Maybe we should rethink this:

RSS is freaking great

Today I thought I would talk about one of my favorite internet technologies... RSS. RSS explained via www.whatisrss.com is: "(Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it". No jumping from site to site to get your news latest blog entries, sport stories, or gadget reviews, and media content. And whats even better about it is that almost everyone supports it.

You can take almost any site's RSS feed put this into an application like an RSS reader and from the application read a majority of the content provided by that site. Some of these application include Amphetadesk, ReadAir, FeedReader, and my personal favorite Google Reader. I could write a whole post to GoogleReader as I believe it is the best RSS reader today, with the ability to send directly to Facebook, search your feeds, and off-line sync as just some of the better features.


Lets take a look at this blog for example. I've enlarged the end of the address bar so it's easier to see, but you notice that same little icon for RSS up there (in red). If you were to click on it depending on your browser you can subscribe to my feed and then if I have a new post you are notified or can see the latest in a list. No jumping to the website and waiting to load the whole site just to see there is an article that you didn't want to read. This becomes very helpful with a news site like CNN.com where you man not want to see the entire site but just want to look at headlines/new stories as they come in.


This type of online media aggregation has been my primary source for news for the past year with decent success. I'm able to find and discover something new quickly that I'm interested in a short amount of time. Where else would I find great clips like this french tv spot.

So it begins like this?

There is nothing like starting something new right before the end of the year. Cold freezing your face off, blizzard like conditions and that happy guy with a Santa hat screaming obscenities at you because he took his parking spot at Wal-mart (I was only going in for one thing). And here I sit behind a computer ready for a new start on things..... well maybe not new.

So on the verges of net neutrality and the day after Obama got his peace prize I'm starting this blog to bring my small part of the world to light. My interests and things that I'm following. Allow me to share with you what you can expect from this corner of the internet. We can talk about internet playlists like Songza or weird lights in the sky. Mullets, everyone loves a good mullet. Then again we could talk about climate, global whatever the fuck it is now like this guy:
