I'm not on the side of anyone who has be found giltiy of drinking and driving. Thousands of lives and families are runined by the many crashes that occur over our great country everyday. I've always wondered however why we continue to have road blocks and "click'it or ticket type checks". Aren't these illegal by the Constitution of the US? Something like I dunno called the Fourth Amendment. Well if you thought that you thought wrong. MADD would love to do away with all rights if it means more convictions. Lawrence Taylor explains in a very detailed post to the DUI blog.
Some of you say, "Well, that can’t happen in the United States. We have the Fourth Amendment to the Constitution, which says police officers have to have probable cause to stop you. They have to have a reason to believe you’ve done something criminal before they can stop and detain you.’" And so said the Michigan Supreme Court in 1990 in the case of Sitz v. Michigan. The Court said, "The Fourth Amendment does not permit these types of roadblocks" — and reversed the DUI conviction. The case went up to the United States Supreme Court, unfortunately, and that august body decided that somewhere in the Constitution there is something called a "DUI Exception". -Lawrence Taylor
I must say that MADD has done some great things for us. Made us safer, but are they by-passing the Bill of Rights to do this? My thought is that no law in this land should sacrifice the process and rights that we all have been given by god and country. Step up and don't take your rights for granted people!!

Playing the devils advocate here... If your not doing anything wrong... why should you have to worry about it. And while I totally agree that the road blocks are a waste of time, energy and government spending 99% percent of the time, If they save even one life (yours, mine, your childrens) isn't it worth it?
